What is a Hydraulic Hose?
A hydraulic hose is the flexible artery of every hydraulic system. It connects the pump, valve, and cylinder to conduct hydraulic energy to the consumer via fluid transmission. Unlike rigid pipes, hoses compensate for movements, vibrations, and thermal expansions.
The structure is technically demanding and usually consists of three components:
- Inner Tube: Oil-resistant rubber that carries the medium.
- Reinforcement (Pressure Carrier): One or more layers of steel wire braid or steel spiral that withstand enormous pressures.
- Outer Cover: Protects the hose from abrasion, ozone, UV radiation, and weather.

Selection Criteria & Technical Data
To avoid pressure losses or bursting, the hose must fit the application exactly.

- Nominal Pressure (PN): The working pressure of the system must not exceed the nominal pressure of the hose (observe burst pressure safety factor!).
- Dimension (DN): The inner diameter must match the flow rate to avoid flow noise and heating.
- Hose Type: Common standards are 1SN / 2SN (wire braid) for medium pressures or 4SP / 4SH (spiral reinforcement) for high pressure.
- Bending Radius: How tightly must the hose be laid? Never go below the minimum bending radius.
