Press fittings
A press nipple is a central connecting component in hydraulic hose technology – it connects hose lines to fittings, pipes or machine connections reliably and pressure-tight. At LöSi®, you will find Valcon® brand press nipples in numerous thread and design variants, designed for the highest demands in hydraulic systems. Thanks to our many years of experience and large stock availability, we can offer you tailor-made solutions for your hydraulic lines – simply order online, install professionally and operate safely.
What is a Crimp Nipple?
The crimp nipple (also called crimp fitting insert or hose tail) is the heart of every hydraulic line. It is the component that is inserted into the hose and establishes the actual connection to the machine.
In combination with a matching crimp ferrule, the nipple forms an inseparable unit with the hose. Our Valcon® models are manufactured with high precision to guarantee 100% tightness at the connection port – whether via sealing cone, flat seal, or thread.
Advantages of Our Crimp Nipple Solutions
A leaking nipple can paralyze the entire hydraulic system. Our crimp nipples offer safety through precision. They are designed so that they do not fail under pressure peaks and vibrations.
Technical features you can count on:
- Standard-Compliant Sealing Surfaces: Exact adherence to geometries (e.g., 24° cone for metric nipples) for leak-free assembly.
- Variety of Versions: We cover all common international standards (DIN, SAE, BSP, JIC, ORFS).
- Durability: Robust free-cutting steel with high-quality surface coating protects against corrosion.
- Flow-Optimized: The inner cross-section is designed to minimize turbulence and heat generation.
Typical Areas of Application for the Crimp Nipple
From the small control hose to the gigantic supply line – crimp nipples are everywhere. Different types dominate depending on the industry:
- European Mechanical Engineering: The metric standard (DKOL / DKOS) is usually prevalent here.
- Agricultural & Forestry Technology: Often a mix of metric and inch (BSP) connections.
- Construction Machinery (Caterpillar/Komatsu): Frequently American standards such as JIC (37° cone) or ORFS (Flat sealing).
- High-Pressure Cleaning: Special nipples for lances and device connections.
Selection Criteria & Technical Data
The risk of confusion is high. A JIC thread looks similar to a BSP thread but seals differently.
Use this checklist for your identification:
- Thread Type: Metric (M), Inch (G/R), or UNF? Measure the outer diameter and the pitch.
- Sealing Cone: Does the nipple have a 24° cone with O-ring (DKO), a 60° cone (BSP), or a 37° cone (JIC)?
- Series (for Metric): Is it the Light Series (L) or the Heavy Series (S)? You can recognize this by the diameter of the tube connection (e.g., 12L vs. 12S).
- Shape: Do you need the nipple straight (0°), as a 45° elbow, or as a 90° elbow?
Tip: With the heavy series (S), make sure that the nipple is designed for higher pressures than with the light series (L).
