Manual control Valves
A manual control valve is a mechanically operated directional control valve that precisely controls the oil flow in hydraulic systems. It enables direct, manual operation of hydraulic cylinders and motors – ideal for applications that require simple, robust and reliable control. Manual control valves are often used in agricultural machinery, construction machinery, wood splitters, municipal technology and workshop equipment. They are characterised by their durability, high load capacity and intuitive operation. In the LöSi® web shop, you will find manual control valves in various flow classes, sizes and switching variants for a wide range of hydraulic applications.
What is a Manual Control Valve?
A manual control valve is the direct interface between man and machine. It allows the operator to manually control the direction (Forward/Reverse) and speed of hydraulic cylinders or motors via a lever.
We distinguish between two main types:
- Monoblock Valves: The housing is cast from a single piece (usually 1 to 6 sections). This design is extremely compact, cost-efficient, and tight ("low leakage").
- Sandwich Valves (Sectional): Here, individual segments are flanged together. This design is modularly expandable and allows individual combinations of different functions per section.
Advantages of Our Manual Control Valves
Why control manually? Because it is robust and failsafe. Our valves function even where electronics fail – in mud, in the cold, and under the harshest vibrations.
Technical highlights for your application:
- High Performance: Designed for flow rates up to 180 l/min and working pressures up to 250 bar.
- Integrated Safety: A main pressure relief valve (DBV) is usually installed directly in the inlet section to protect the system from overload.
- Sensitivity: Metering notches in the spools enable a smooth start of the load ("Soft-Start").
- Flexibility: Convertible from standard lever to joystick (cross lever), cable control, or pneumatic actuation.
Typical Areas of Application
The manual control valve is the standard in mobile hydraulics and attachments:
- Forestry Technology: The classic on the log splitter (often with special "kick-out" function for fast return).
- Agriculture: Control of front loaders (with joystick) and tipping trailers.
- Vehicle Construction: Operation of loading cranes, hooklifts, and towing platforms.
- Workshop: Manual control of hydraulic presses.
Selection Criteria & Technical Data
A valve must fit your pump hydraulically and your cylinder functionally.
Pay attention to these features during configuration:
- Flow Rate (l/min): Select the size (e.g., 40, 80, 120 l/min) matching the pump performance to avoid back pressure and heat.
- Spool Function (Circuit Diagram):
- Standard (Cylinder): A & B blocked in neutral (cylinder holds).
- Motor Spool: A & B connected to tank (motor coasts to a stop).
- Single-acting: For cylinders that only push (e.g., tippers).
- Special Functions: Do you need a float position (for snowplows/dozer blades) or a detent?
- High Pressure Carry-Over (Power Beyond): Mandatorily required if another valve is to be connected in series behind this valve!
