BD/EPRM Hydraulic motor

The BD/EPRM hydraulic motor from LöSi® combines the proven Geroller Gerotor technology of the EPRM series with an integrated multi-disc brake to provide drive and holding functions in a compact unit. With displacement ranges from approx. 80 cm³/rev to 397 cm³/rev and static holding torques in the range of hundreds of Newton metres, this motor offers a reliable solution for applications with high torque requirements AND as a holding or parking brake. Choose the BD/EPRM hydraulic motor – if you want drive power and safety in one module.

What is a BD/EPRM Hydraulic Motor?

The BD/EPRM hydraulic motor is a further development of classic orbital motors. It combines the proven Geroler technology of the EPRM series with a firmly integrated, hydraulically released multi-disc brake in a single housing.

This construction is the answer to space constraints in modern machines. Instead of mounting and piping motor and brake separately, you receive a compact unit that seamlessly combines drive and holding function (safety).

Advantages of the BD/EPRM Series

The main advantage of the BD/EPRM lies in the reduction of complexity. Fewer components mean less installation effort and fewer potential leakage points. Technically, the series impresses with:

  • Geroler Technology: By using rollers in the planetary gear set, sliding friction is minimized. This improves start-up behavior and increases service life compared to simple motors.
  • Integrated Brake: The hydraulically released multi-disc brake ensures safety at standstill (holding function).
  • Simple Integration: Reduced piping effort, as the brake is part of the motor unit.

Typical Areas of Application for the BD/EPRM Hydraulic Motor

The BD/EPRM demonstrates its strengths wherever loads must be held securely and installation space is limited:

  • Lifting Technology & Winches: Reliable holding of the load at motor standstill.
  • Conveyor Technology: As a backstop on inclined conveyor belts.
  • Mobile Machinery: Wheel drives in construction machinery that require a parking brake.
  • Plastics Machinery: Precise positioning of tools.

Variants, Selection & Technical Data

The BD/EPRM series offers flexibility for diverse applications. The displacements range from approx. 80 cm³/rev to 397 cm³/rev.

A concrete performance example is the model BD/EPRM 400 C D (397 cm³/rev).

Pay particular attention to the brake parameters during design:

  • Static Holding Torque: Offers e.g., 400 Nm safety reserve (depending on model).
  • Opening Pressure: The brake releases from approx. 21 bar. Your system must ensure this pressure in the supply line.
  • Connections: Check the position of the leakage oil and brake release ports for clean routing.
