What is a Hose Fitting?
A hose fitting is the crucial connecting piece that turns a flexible rubber hose into a ready-to-mount hydraulic line. It generally consists of two components: the crimp nipple (which is inserted into the hose) and the crimp ferrule (which is pressed on from the outside).
Only through the professional crimping of these components is a form-fit and force-fit connection created that withstands pressures of several hundred bar. - Thread Type: Determine the thread (Metric, Inch/BSPP, or UN/UNF) precisely with a thread gauge.
- Ferrule Type: Make sure that the crimp ferrule matches the hose type (e.g., ferrule for 2SN hoses).
Tip: With banjo fittings, you must also note the diameter of the hollow screw.
