What is a Gear Pump BG1?

The gear pump of Group 1 (BG1) is the proven standard in the compact performance class. It closes the gap between micro-pumps and large tractor pumps.

These pumps operate according to the external gear principle and are characterized by a lightweight aluminum housing combined with high pressure resistance. They are the first choice when flow rates in the lower to medium range (approx. 6 to 40 liters/min depending on speed) are required, but installation space is limited.

Advantages of Our Group 1 Gear Pumps

The BG1 series is a "volume model" – which means for you: Mature technology at very economical prices. It is robust enough for rough everyday use and precise enough for control tasks.

Why BG1 is the right choice:

  • Power Density: Despite compact dimensions, operating pressures up to approx. 220 bar (often higher in peak) are possible.
  • Standardization: Thanks to standardized flanges (e.g., Euro standard), replacing defective pumps is usually "Plug & Play".
  • Efficiency: High volumetric efficiency ensures that the motor power is optimally converted into hydraulic force.
  • Durability: Simple plain bearings, lubricated by the hydraulic oil, make the pump virtually maintenance-free.

Typical Areas of Application for the Gear Pump BG1

Group 1 is the "engine" of many applications we encounter daily. It is particularly frequently found in systems that need to be mobile and light:

  • Hydraulic Power Units: The classic in lifting platforms, lift tables, and workshop presses (Power Packs).
  • Agricultural Technology: In vineyard tractors or as an auxiliary pump in large tractors.
  • Forestry: Drive of smaller log splitters and winches.
  • Municipal Technology: Steering hydraulics in sweepers and light commercial vehicles.

Selection Criteria & Technical Data

To find the right BG1 pump, the flange pattern and displacement must match exactly.

Pay attention to these identification features:

  • Displacement: The spectrum ranges from approx. 1 cm³/rev to 14 cm³/rev. (Rule of thumb: The larger the volume, the faster the cylinder, but the more power the drive motor requires).
  • Flange: The standard is the 4-bolt Euro flange (hole spacing often 72x52 mm or 25.4 mm centering). Check the dimensions!
  • Shaft: Mostly tapered 1:8 (with woodruff key) for standard motors or jaw coupling for electric motors.
  • Connections: Often designed as flange connection (bolt circle 30mm) or threaded connection (BSP).

Tip: Do not confuse BG1 with BG2. Measure the centering collar – for BG1 it is usually 25.4 mm or 30 mm, for BG2 it is 36.5 mm.
