What is a Transmission Gearbox?
A transmission gearbox is the mechanical manager for speed and force. It adapts the power of a drive source (e.g., hydraulic motor, PTO shaft, e-motor) exactly to the needs of the driven machine.
There are two basic functions:
- Reduction (i > 1): The speed is reduced, the torque increases massively (e.g., for winches or conveyor belts).
- Step-up (i < 1): The speed is increased (e.g., with PTO gearboxes) to operate fast hydraulic pumps on slow tractors.
