What is a Scraper Floor Gearbox?
A scraper floor gearbox is the heart of the conveyor technology in agricultural trailers. It converts the fast rotation of a drive (usually a hydraulic motor) into a slow but extremely powerful movement that drives the scraper floor.
Technically, these are usually robust worm or planetary gearboxes. They must transmit enormous tensile forces to the chain sprockets in order to move heavy loads such as manure, silage, or wood chips evenly to the rear – often under the most adverse conditions such as dirt, moisture, and shock loads.

Selection Criteria & Technical Data
For the gearbox to fit, the motor side and chain side must be compatible.
Check these dimensions before ordering:
- Motor Flange: Does your hydraulic motor fit the gearbox? Standard is often the SAE-A (2-bolt) or Magneto flange (4-bolt) with 25mm or 32mm shaft.
- Output Shaft: How is the chain sprocket fastened? Do you need a cylindrical shaft (with feather key) or a hexagonal shaft? Measure the diameter exactly!
- Ratio: How fast should the floor run? A high reduction (e.g., 1:25) provides more power but less speed.
- Load Capacity: Is the max. torque sufficient for your tonnage?
