Gear Pumps - Buy Online in our LöSi Shop

The gear pump is one of the most commonly used hydraulic pumps and impresses with its robust, efficient, and low-maintenance delivery principle. Two intermeshing gears generate a uniform volume flow, making it ideal for applications that require constant delivery rates. Gear pumps are found in mobile machines, industrial units, and numerous standard hydraulic systems. Thanks to their compact design, high reliability, and attractive cost-effectiveness, the gear pumps available in the LöSi® web shop offer an optimal solution for a wide range of hydraulic tasks.

What is a Gear Pump?

The gear pump (mostly designed as an external gear pump) is the most frequently used pump type in hydraulics worldwide. It operates according to the displacement principle: Two intermeshing gears transport the hydraulic oil in the gear cavities from the suction to the pressure side.

This design is ingeniously simple. Since it manages with few moving parts, the gear pump is extremely robust, cost-efficient, and low-maintenance. It delivers a constant flow rate and is the ideal solution for the lower to medium pressure range (standard up to approx. 250 bar).

Advantages of Our Gear Pumps

Why is the gear pump the "tractor" among hydraulic pumps? Because it works reliably, even if the conditions are not laboratory-clean.

Your technical advantages:

  • Economic Efficiency: The best price-performance ratio for standard applications.
  • Dirt Tolerance: Compared to sensitive piston pumps, gear pumps also forgive (briefly) slight contamination in the oil.
  • Compact Power: High power density with small installation space – ideal for tight machine housings.
  • Broad Spectrum: Available in standardized groups (Group 0.5 to Group 3) for exactly scalable flow rates.

Typical Areas of Application for the Gear Pump

From the small log splitter to the huge industrial power unit – the gear pump is the universal pressure generator:

  • Agricultural & Forestry Technology: Standard pump in tractors, log splitters, and mowers.
  • Hydraulic Power Units: Supply of lifting platforms, presses, and tail lifts.
  • Mobile Hydraulics: Power steering pumps and working hydraulics in forklifts.
  • Lubrication Technology: As low-pressure pump for cooling and lubrication circuits (often internal gear pumps).

Selection Criteria & Technical Data

Precision is required in the selection so that the pump fits your motor and delivers the necessary pressure.

Check these parameters before ordering:

  • Displacement (cm³/rev): Determines the flow rate per revolution. Formula: Volume x Speed = Liters/Minute.
  • Direction of Rotation: The most common mistake! Look at the drive shaft: Does the motor turn right (clockwise) or left? The pump must match this.
  • Shaft & Flange: Do you need a tapered 1:8 shaft (European standard), a splined shaft, or an SAE flange?
  • Maximum Pressure: Is the pump designed for your system pressure (e.g., 200 bar continuous load)?

Tip: Always replace the hydraulic oil and the filter when changing the pump to maximize the service life of the new pump.
