What is a Gear Pump Group 3 (BG3)?
The gear pump of Group 3 (BG3) is the powerhouse among aluminum pumps. It is used whenever the smaller BG2 reaches its volumetric limits.
With a significantly larger housing and massive gears, the BG3 is designed for high flow rates. Depending on the speed, it easily delivers between 30 and 150 liters of oil per minute. This makes it the ideal drive for applications where cylinders must extend quickly or hydraulic motors must turn powerfully.

Selection Criteria & Technical Data
With the BG3 there are two dominant standards. A mix-up leads to the pump not fitting the motor.
Check these identification points exactly:
- Displacement: Common sizes are 22, 26, 33, 39, 46, 55, or 63 cm³/rev.
Example: 55 cm³/rev x 1500 rpm = approx. 82 liters/min. - Flange Type:
- Euro Flange (BG3): 4-bolt fastening (hole pattern approx. 128 x 98 mm) with tapered shaft 1:8.
- SAE-B Flange: 2-bolt fastening (hole distance 146 mm) with splined shaft (SAE spline, e.g., 13 teeth).
- Direction of Rotation: Looking at the shaft: Right or Left? (With PTO gearboxes often the other way round than with electric motors!).
- Connections: Mostly flange connections (bolt circle 40mm or 51mm) to transmit the large oil flow safely.
