Ball Valves
A ball valve is a particularly reliable fitting in the field of hydraulic connection technology, which can reliably open or close the flow of hydraulic fluid in pipes by means of a rotating ball. Our range includes hydraulic ball valves specially designed for high pressures and demanding operating conditions – ideal for industrial plants, mobile hydraulics and conveyor technology, where connecting elements require the highest quality and tightness.
More on the subject of ball valves
What is a Ball Valve?
A ball valve is probably the most reliable shut-off device in fluid technology. Inside works a bored ball which, through a simple 90° turn, either completely releases the oil flow or blocks it leak-free.
Unlike in plumbing, our hydraulic ball valves (often designed as massive block ball valves) are specially constructed to withstand enormous pressures. They are the safety guarantors in every hydraulic system to isolate maintenance sections or divert volume flows.
Advantages of Our Ball Valves
The ball valve impresses with its simple but extremely robust mechanics. A quarter turn is enough to change the state from "Open" to "Closed". This makes it the ideal component for quick interventions.
Technical features that impress:
- Full Bore: Designs that do not constrict the line cross-section minimize pressure losses and heat generation.
- High-Pressure Resistant: Designed for pressures of several hundred bar (depending on size and material).
- Tightness: Special sealing cups (e.g., POM) ensure that not a drop of oil escapes even at high pressure.
- Low Maintenance: Due to the self-lubricating effect of the hydraulic oil, wear on the ball is minimal.
Typical Areas of Application for the Ball Valve
Whether as a main shut-off valve on the tank or as a changeover valve on an attachment – ball valves are omnipresent in mobile and industrial hydraulics:
- Mobile Hydraulics: Shutting off lines on excavators and agricultural machinery (e.g., for tool changing).
- Industrial Plants: Isolating units for maintenance work without system draining.
- Material Handling: Control of lifting platforms and presses.
- Agricultural Technology: Switching between different hydraulic circuits (3-way valves).
Selection Criteria & Technical Data
Not all ball valves are created equal. The wrong material or an insufficient pressure rating can lead to bursting.
Define the following parameters for your order:
- Pressure Range (PN): Does the valve withstand the maximum system pressure (e.g., 315 bar, 500 bar)?
- Design: Do you need a 2-way valve (Open/Closed) or a multi-way valve (3-way with L or T bore) for switching? [Image of hydraulic 3-way ball valve diagram]
- Connection Thread: Common are BSPP (Inch), Metric, or NPT. Pay attention to the thread size.
- Material: Galvanized steel for standard applications or stainless steel for aggressive media/outdoor use?
Tip: Pay attention to whether you need a ball valve with "reduced" or "full" bore to calculate the flow resistance.
