Gear Boxes for a top quality!
A hydraulic gear box is a powerful drive element that optimally transmits torque and speed between the hydraulic motor and the working machine. It enables efficient power conversion and ensures a high degree of reliability in mobile and industrial applications. Hydraulic gearboxes are used wherever robust, compact and low-maintenance drive solutions are required – for example in agriculture, construction and forestry technology, conveyor systems or special-purpose machines. In the LöSi® web shop, you will find high-quality hydraulic gearboxes in various ratios, designs and performance classes, tailored to different hydraulic motors and system requirements.
What is a Hydraulic Gearbox?
A hydraulic gearbox acts as the mechanical link between your hydraulic motor and the driven machine. It is a torque and speed converter. In most cases, it serves as a reduction gearbox: It reduces the high speed of the hydraulic motor and converts it into massive torque.
Planetary gearboxes are particularly common here. Thanks to their coaxial design, they offer enormous power density in the smallest of spaces. This allows you to move heavy loads with a relatively small hydraulic motor (e.g., for winches or drive systems) without the motor itself having to be huge.
Advantages of Our Hydraulic Gearboxes
Why add a gearbox? Because it maximizes the efficiency and power of your drive train. Our gearboxes are specially designed for flanging to hydraulic motors (orbital or axial piston motors).
Technical added value for your design:
- Power Multiplication: Through ratios of e.g., 1:3.5 to 1:50, you can multiply the torque at the output shaft.
- Shock Resistance: Robust gears and bearings absorb shocks that would otherwise strike the motor shaft directly (protection function).
- Compact Design: Planetary gearboxes are extremely short and can often be integrated directly into the cable drum or the wheel.
- Low Maintenance: Closed systems with oil bath lubrication for long service life even under full load.
Typical Areas of Application
Hydraulic gearboxes are the "muscles" behind the hydraulics. They are used where raw power at low speeds is required:
- Forestry & Agricultural Technology: Drive of earth augers, cone splitters, and cutters.
- Winch Construction: Cable winches where pulling force is more important than speed.
- Drive Systems: Wheel hub gears for heavy construction machinery.
- Mixing Technology: Drive of concrete mixers or agitators with high resistance.
Selection Criteria & Technical Data
Designing a gearbox requires calculation work. If the input torque is too high, you will destroy the gearbox.
Define these values before ordering:
- Gear Ratio (i): How slowly should the output turn? Formula: Motor speed / i = Output speed.
- Input Torque: Does the gearbox withstand the power of your hydraulic motor? (Caution with motors with high starting torque!).
- Motor Connection: Which flange does your motor have (SAE A, SAE B, Magneto)? The gearbox must match.
- Output Shaft: Do you need a cylindrical shaft with feather key (for pulleys) or a splined shaft?
Expert Tip: Pay attention to the thermal capacity during continuous operation. A gearbox generates heat – external cooling may be necessary.
