Solenoid Valves
A hydraulic solenoid valve is an electrically operated control valve that precisely regulates the flow of oil in hydraulic systems. Controlled by a coil, the solenoid valve can automatically switch paths, pressure or flow – ideal for modern machine controls, automation and safety-related processes. Hydraulic solenoid valves are used in agricultural, construction and municipal machinery as well as in industrial plants and mobile hydraulics. In the LöSi® web shop, you will find high-quality solenoid valves in various designs, connection sizes and performance levels – suitable for a wide range of hydraulic systems.
What is a Hydraulic Solenoid Valve?
A hydraulic solenoid valve (often also referred to as a solenoid valve) is the electromechanical "switch" in your hydraulic system. It converts an electrical signal (e.g., from a joystick or a PLC control) into a hydraulic movement.
The operating principle is based on a solenoid coil:
- Idle State (De-energized): A return spring holds the valve piston in the starting position. The oil flow is blocked or released depending on the circuit diagram.
- Activated State (Energized): If current flows, the coil generates a magnetic field. The armature attracts, shifts the piston against the spring force, and changes the flow direction of the oil.
This allows cylinders to be extended or motors to be started – simply at the push of a button or fully automatically.
Advantages of Our Solenoid Valves
Why switch electrically? Because it is precise, fast, and remotely controllable. Our solenoid valves are the backbone of modern automation.
Technical strengths at a glance:
- Automation: Perfect for connection to machine controls (PLC) or radio remote controls.
- Variety: From simple 2/2-way seat valves (Open/Closed) to complex 4/3-way spool valves (Cylinder Forward/Back/Stop), everything is possible.
- Standardization: Our CETOP valves (subplate mounting according to ISO 4401) are interchangeable worldwide and modularly stackable.
- Robustness: Wet-running solenoids and protected manual overrides ensure function even under adverse conditions.
Typical Areas of Application
Solenoid valves are found wherever processes are no longer to be controlled manually by hand lever, but electrically:
- Mobile Hydraulics: Electrical control of additional functions on excavators or front loaders via joysticks in the cab.
- Industrial Plants: Cycle lines and presses that run cycles fully automatically.
- Vehicle Construction: Tipping hydraulics and tail lifts (12V/24V on-board network).
- Machine Tools: Clamping and positioning of workpieces.
Selection Criteria & Technical Data
For the valve to switch, electrics and hydraulics must match. A wrong circuit diagram can lead to the destruction of the pump.
Define these parameters before ordering:
- Voltage: Which network do you have? 12V DC / 24V DC (direct current for vehicles) or 230V AC (alternating current for industry)?
- Design: Do you need a CETOP valve (subplate mounting, NG6/NG10) or a screw-in cartridge (cartridge) for valve blocks?
- Circuit Diagram (Ways/Positions):
- 4/3-Way: Standard for cylinders (Forward-Stop-Back).
- Center Position: Should the cylinder be blocked in neutral (A/B blocked) or float (A/B to tank)?
- Performance: Does the maximum flow (l/min) match the valve size to avoid oil heating?
