Metric screw fittings

The Metric Fittings category in the Hydraulic Connection Technology section at LöSi® offers you high-quality metric standard components – ideal for connecting pipe or hose lines in modern hydraulic systems. These fittings are based on metric thread sizes (millimeter system) and comply with common standards such as ISO 6149 or ISO 8434.
Whether you need straight screw-in fittings, angle fittings, or T-fittings, the right metric threaded fitting will ensure a leak-free connection under high pressures and demanding conditions.

What is a Metric Fitting?

A metric fitting is the dominant standard in European mechanical engineering and hydraulics. It is based on the metric ISO thread (millimeter dimension) and follows strict standards such as DIN 2353 or ISO 8434-1.

The core of this connection technology is usually the 24° sealing cone (cutting ring principle). Whether you are looking for a precise screw-in thread for a control block or a connector for two hydraulic pipes: Metric fittings guarantee extremely high vibration resistance and tightness thanks to their fine thread pitch.

Advantages of Our Metric Fittings

Why is the metric system so successful? Because it is logical and extremely resilient. Our range offers the right solution for every pressure range.

Technical features that impress:

  • Series Subdivision: We distinguish between the Light Series (L) for compact applications (up to approx. 315-500 bar) and the Heavy Series (S) for extreme pressures and pressure peaks (up to over 630 bar).
  • Leakage Protection: Modern variants with DKO sealing head (sealing cone with O-ring) offer double security against oil leakage – metallic and elastomeric sealing.
  • Standard-compliant: Full interchangeability with components from other manufacturers thanks to ISO 6149 / DIN 3852 standardization.

Typical Areas of Application for Metric Fittings

From small agricultural machinery to huge industrial presses – metric fittings are the "gold standard" in Europe:

  • Stationary Industry: Piping of hydraulic power units and machine tools.
  • Mobile Machinery: Excavators, cranes, and forestry machines from European manufacturers (e.g., Liebherr, Volvo).
  • Vehicle Construction: Brake lines and auxiliary hydraulics in trucks.
  • Precision Engineering: Applications where fine thread pitches (e.g., M10x1) are necessary for exact assembly.

Selection Criteria & Technical Data

Correct identification is the biggest challenge here. A tube outer diameter (OD) of 12 mm can, for example, have an M18x1.5 (L-series) or an M20x1.5 (S-series) thread.

Check these points before ordering:

  • Series (L or S): Measure the thread and the cone. The Heavy Series (S) has larger threads and wall thicknesses for the same tube diameter.
  • Thread Size: Determine the outer diameter and pitch (e.g., M18x1.5). Use a thread gauge.
  • Design: Do you need GE (Straight Screw-in), WE (Elbow), or TE (T-Piece)?
  • Seal: Are you looking for a pure cutting ring fitting or an adjustable adapter with DKO (O-ring)?

Tip: For screw-in studs, you must also pay attention to the sealing at the housing (soft seal ED or O-ring retaining ring).
